Our Lionza is a Swiss Alpine style cheese, named after the tiny village high in the Swiss Alps that the Fiscalini family called home for more than 300 years. We follow the same traditional methods today that were developed generations ago to create this one-of-a-kind cheese. The complex flavors of our Lionza make it a favorite amongst cheese mongers and cheese lovers alike. Its aromas and essence range from nutty, fruity, and tangy to floral, herbal, and buttery. This cheese has a natural rind, a few irregular eyes and a semi-soft springy texture. Lionza is made from raw cow’s milk, hand crafted into 28 pound wheels and aged a minimum 6 months.
Lionza’s elegant flavor will compliment any cheese board while its smooth melting characteristics impart intense flavor when used in the kitchen. Try adding this cheese to a ham and spinach quiche or in a shredded chicken and pesto sandwich. Use Lionza when making macaroni, a traditional Swiss dish served in the slopes of the Alps.
Vacuum-sealed package may be stored for up to one year.
Once opened, tightly wrap the remaining cheese and store in an airtight bag up to 30 days.
